Sara Rubio
Polymat
Sara Rubio earned her B.Sc in Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country in September 2021.
During her bachelor, she spent one year (2019-2020) as an Erasmus student at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK), and in the summers of 2019 and 2020, she carried out internship in the Polymerization Process Group (Polymat). In her bachelor’s final project, she worked on degradable nanoparticles by emulsion polymerization under the supervision of Dr. M. Aguirre and Prof. JR. Leiza.
In 2022 she earned the Double Master’s in Polymer Science (DMIPS) from the University of the Basque Country and the University of Bordeaux. In her master’s final project, she worked in the Paul Pascal Research Centre (CRPP), Bordeaux, under the supervision of Dr. W. Kaade and Prof. V. Schmitt, where she studied the encapsulation of active molecules by emulsification to be used as bio-pesticides.
Since October 2022, she is doing her PhD in Polymat under the supervision of Dr. Edurne Gonzalez and Dr. Aitor Barquero. Her research project is part of the European project Natursea-PV and it is focused on the development of bio-based latexes for waterborne antifouling coatings.
