TITLE: Synthesis soft hydrophilic polymers with comb structures by free-radical copolymerization for cementitious materials (2019)

DESCRIPTION: MPEG-type PCE superplasticizers have been synthesized by aqueous copolymerization of methacrylic acid (MAA) and polyethylenglycol methacrylate macromonomers (PEGMA). The effect of the microstructure of the PCEs (defined by the ratio MAA/PEGMA, the number of ethylen oxide units in the PEGMA, and the molar mass or number of repeating units) on the adsorption and hydration kinetics of OPC cements has been studied. The only semiempirical model available in the literature was validated with the data gathered in this PhD. Furthermore, preliminary data on the effect of the microstructure in model crystalline phases was also investigated.
