Several researchers from the LTC-Green Concrete presented their latest works in the 16th International Congress on the Chemistry of Cement (ICCC 2023) held in Bangkok on 18-22 Sept 2023. In particular, the ZTF-FCT of the UPV/EHU team, led by Hegoi Manzano, presented their studies on Molecular Dynamics and Kinetic Monte Carlo of building materials. Aitor Barquero from Polymat showed their work about synthesis and microstructural characterization of PCE superplasticizers and their effect on the hydration of OPC and its crystalline phases. Edurne Erkizia (Tecnalia) talked about preparation of cement-based materials with the aim of obtaining more hydrophobic pastes with superhydrophobic surfaces. Finally, the representation from the CFM-CSIC led by Jorge S. Dolado focused on construction solutions using cement-based materials for energy harvesting and storage, as well as for mitigating the urban heat island effect.
It must be mentioned that the ICCC is probably the most important congress in the field of cement research and it is held every four years.
