On the 21st of November, Jorge S. Dolado gave a talk to the general public in the lectures “Qué sabemos de…” organized by Centro de Física de Materiales (CFM CSIC-UPV/EHU) titled “El hormigón verde: cementando un futuro sostenible”.
Dr. Dolado explained what cement and concrete are, their history and their importance in our civilization. He described the problems associated with their use but also how they can help to overcome some of the challenges faced by humanity such as CO2 reduction, improve energy efficiency and decrease of urban heat island effect. In relation to these challenges, Dr. Dolado described some of the research he and his group are doing in collaboration with other research groups in European projects such as Miracle and NRG-Storage as well as national projects. He also mentioned the research in cement field carry out by the Laboratory of Trans-Border Cooperation LTC-Green Concrete.
